Depending on the source, there can be more or less aspects of wellness but I will be discussing just 6 today. These include physical, emotional, social, environmental, spiritual, and intellectual. There are many stressors that many of us have had to face since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. I have previously written about ways to destress, and this post I am aiming to provide even more ways that are simple yet effective. I am also going to talk about apps that can be downloaded on smartphones that are beneficial in managing our stress. I will also be talking about ways to manage time for effectively as that can be a big contributor to stress.  1) Have a notebook where you can write down your thoughts and feelings. Being able to write things down can be beneficial in managing stress because it allows us to see what we are feeling physically. By being able to see this in writing, it can help us look for solutions to these stressors.  In a pervious post, I wrote about ways to stay active at home. This post will be similar but I will be sharing more resources such as videos that can be done at home but are also fun and engaging. I think one of the most important aspects of a workout is that it is entertaining and engaging. This can help us feel more motivated and excited about working out. I also think that by having an entertaining workout, it makes the time go by a lot faster as well. The videos I will be providing today are just some examples of these fun workouts. Reminders For Staying Safe During COVID-19

       Lately, especially here in Oregon, many public spaces are reopening or are soon to reopen. These include gyms, restaurants, schools, and other places/facilities. Even though these places are reopening, and with the introduction of COVID-19 vaccines, it is still dire that we stay safe and be socially distant. This post is going to include reminders and advice that can help protect us from contracting and spreading this terrible disease. 1) Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds : This should be done quite often, especially after being out in public and before eating. One tip I have is to also carry 60% alcohol or greater hand sanitizer around with you, and even have multiple bottles if possible. I keep one in my bag and two in my car just to make sure I can have clean hands regardless of my situation. My hands also do get dry so after sanitizing or washing hands I sometimes apply lotion so that my skin doesn't crack or feel painful. 2) Wear a mask, or even two...

Tips for Eating Healthy For Picky Eaters

 As a self-proclaimed picky eater, I know that eating healthy can be difficult when there is not many things I find enjoyable. I have been a picky eater for as long as I can remember and I find that I usually enjoy foods the most that aren't always the best for me. I have found ways to work around this issue, however.  One tip I have is to experiment with textures of the same food. I can't eat raw broccoli, but when it is cooked or steamed so it is softer, I find myself really enjoying it. This is the same for cauliflower, carrots, eggplant, and tomatoes. Cooked vegetables can even make the nutrients found in the vegetable even more attainable as well. I recommend trying to eat as many different vegetables as you can, that way you know for sure what you like and what you don't like. Being open-minded is essential for trying to eat healthier. How To Make Sure You're Getting The Right Nutrients With MyPlate

 Many people may be missing out on nutrients and eating improper proportions. It can be hard to know what proportions are right for us because it can be hard to estimate those proportions and people also require different amounts regarding certain factors. One resource I really want to highlight in this post is the MyPlate resource by the USDA. MyPlate is a great resource because it highlights the importance of proportions and how to divide those proportions on our plate. It is visually easier to understand than other common resources, like the food pyramid for example.  The image above is provided on the MyPlate website and acts as a guide to visually represent the proportions of these food groups that we should consume with our meals. Another great aspect of MyPlate is that they provide examples on the website of foods that can be included in these groups.
